2024 marks a year of change in Tuscany, especially for women, and this spirit of transformation resonates in music too. To celebrate March 8th, the International Women’s Day, we invite you to a free concert titled “Together for Changing Music”.
“Music has always been the soundtrack of great battles for civil rights,” says the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani. “On this special day, it will accompany and support the regional government’s commitment to gender equality and against all forms of discrimination and violence.”
Cristina Manetti, the creator of the Toscana delle donne project, emphasizes: “Through music, we want to reaffirm the spirit of struggle of this day. Before being a celebration, March 8th is a day of daily commitment to raise awareness and mobilize against disparities and injustices.”
Join us on the day of the event, at 4 p.m., in Piazza del Duomo in Florence, in front of Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati, the seat of the Tuscany Region. In addition to music, the program will include readings and reflections on crucial themes for women’s rights.
Numerous artists and groups, especially from Tuscany, will participate to give meaning to this occasion and to transform March 8th into a day of real awareness and action.
Among the artists performing on stage will be Irene Grandi, Paolo Vallesi, Bandabardò, Dirotta su Cuba, Giulia Mazzoni, and Giuseppe Scarpato. The evening will be hosted by Carlo “Carletto” Nicoletti, with readings by Tosca d’Aquino and Serra Yilmaz.
There will also be an opportunity to support Iranian activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi, unjustly detained since 2016, through a subscription during the concert.
Join us to join forces and change the world through music and action on March 8th in Piazza del Duomo!
