Intro

Where art, history and culture intertwine in a fascinating embrace.

Walking through the cobbled streets of Florence, you can admire architectural masterpieces such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, which rises majestically into the sky, and the Ponte Vecchio reflected in the waters of the Arno River. Florence is a hymn to beauty, a symphony of colours and emotions that will leave an indelible memory in your heart. Prepare to immerse yourself in a journey of discovery and wonder in a city that is, in every aspect, a true masterpiece.

What to know before leaving?

Before organizing a trip to Florence, there are some important things to know to make the most of your experience. Here are some tips:

  • Climate: Florence has a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot summers. Check the weather forecast before you travel and bring appropriate clothing. Remember to also take an umbrella in case of rain.
  • Best time to visit: Florence gets very crowded during the summer, so if you can, choose to visit in spring or autumn when temperatures are more pleasant, and there are fewer tourists.
  • Duration of the stay: Florence has so much to offer, so try to dedicate at least three or four days to the visit. This way, you’ll have enough time to explore the museums, historic neighborhoods, and take some day trips outside the city.
  • Transportation: Florence is a fairly compact city, and many attractions are within walking distance. You can also use public transportation, such as buses, to get around more easily. There are also bike-sharing and taxi services available.
  • Museums and attractions: Florence is famous for its museums, which house some of the most important works of art in the world. Buy tickets in advance for the most famous museums, such as the Uffizi and the Accademia, to avoid long queues. Keep in mind that many museums are closed on Mondays.
  • Local food: Don’t miss the opportunity to taste delicious Tuscan cuisine during your stay in Florence. Try typical dishes such as “bistecca alla fiorentina” (Florentine steak), “ribollita” (a bread and vegetable soup), and “cantucci” (traditional biscuits to be enjoyed with Vin Santo, a sweet wine).
  • Language: Italian is the official language, but many people working in the tourism industry also speak English. However, learning some basic phrases in Italian can help you interact with locals and immerse yourself in the culture.
  • Safety: Florence is generally a safe city, but be careful with your personal belongings and keep an eye on bags and backpacks, especially in crowded areas. Beware of pickpockets, especially in touristy areas.

I hope these tips are helpful for organizing your trip to Florence. Enjoy your visit to the fullest and discover all the wonders that the city has to offer!
